Bring Back the 70's Crocheting Art

Please bring back the crocheting magazines from the 70's when home made items were so popular rather then store bought items. Remember the art of flower crochet, granny square designs and mother and daughter ponchos? Who could not forget the afghans, slippers, hats, scarves and much more. The colors of the 70's were so bright and vibrant, lime green, aqua, orange, yellow and red.
June 1974
Recently, I was given a box full of crocheting magazines that belonged to my God Mother. My mind has shifted back to the 70's as I still carry on the tradition today with creating crocheted items. Do you have a favorite crocheted gift memory you would like to share with us?

Thank you Grandma, Mom and my Aunt for teaching me how to crochet at a young age. Enjoy a piece of nostalgia.

What has Pam Vincent been creating?

Blogging on a regular basis is a big challenge once the snow melts and you want to spend every waking minute out side. Seriously, how many people are sitting on their computers when spring and summer are slapping you in the face? I thought I would check in with one of our "Chicks" Pam Vincent to see what new pressed dried floral art she has been working on. My oh my, her newest dried flower art is gorgous. Pam say's " I am planning my next dried flower creation to submit for the State Fair Fine Arts Competition. Last year I made it in with a photograph. This year, I'm going to call my creation, " My Godmother's Garden" In memory of her. I'm going to be busy in the studio working on this, and preparing for my Art show on July 9th for the Anoka River Fest."
Pam's work is very unique, as I have not seen anything like it at any craft or art show I have attended. These pictures do no justice as they are beautiful to see in person. Please check out her website at http://www.pamelavincentcreations.com/ and contact her by email if you are interested in purchasing her flower creations.

"Spring has Sprung" in Minnesota

"Spring has sprung!" said the bumble bee.
"How do you know?" said the old oak tree.
"I just saw a daffodil blooming on a windy hill!"

I am picking today as our offical spring in Minnesota as my hummingbirds and Baltimore Orioles have arrived. We have had alot of rain and it seems like the all of the flowers, blossoms and trees have popped open over night.  Now, if I could offically put away my fall clothing and break out the shorts, spring would be complete. Enjoy!

Even Thunder Storms Can Create Beauty

Tuesday night the skies became Erie with colors of greens and black. As it passed we watched the sunset create this amazing cloud formation. We reached 87 degrees and major humidity. With that the storms came, we were lucky the tornadoes did not touch down near us. Even thunderstorms can create beauty.
